Shocked

I'm still shocked with an email I recorded yesterday.  Just read it again and I'm still shocked.

I've been chosen to be a recipient of The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal "for your exemplary efforts to make your community a great place to live. It recognizes the important role municipalities – and their elected leaders – play in ensuring our prosperity and high quality of life."

WOW! Is right. I would have never dreamt of receiving this award, not now and not in a million years.

Of the millions of nominations across Canada, I was one of 60,000 individuals that was chosen to receive the medal.  I don't think what I've done as remarkable and warrants the recognition of this medal. I'm  sure that there must be other nominees that have done considerably more then I.

I'm at a lost for words to describe how I'm feeling.   Shocked.... elated.... stunned.... disbelief.... humbled.... honored.... proud.... all these feelings swirling inside me.

It's going to a little while before this sets in.

Does time change

Time sure flys by when you're busy.
Why is that?  Doesn't matter what you're doing, if you focus in the time, it seems to take longer. Time doesn't change or does it?

The Tiger Challenge is over, it was enjoyable and fun. The group did a great organizing it and it showed at how smoothly everything went. Great job guys.

Time?

Time sure flys by when you're busy. Just finished reading my agenda package for tomorrow and my Council strategic retreat package for Tuesday and Wednesday.

One thing that I have learned through I Ho Chaun is that you will just have to do it whenever you can. We're all busy but if you throw in a few push ups here and there by the end of the day you would've done a hundred or so.

An easy way to do this is to start your morning with 50 push up and sit ups. When you get home from work, push out another 50 and before you go to bed, another 50.  You haven't changed anything and only spent a couple of minutes but you've managed to do 150 p/u and s/u in a day.  Lets take a look at the math 365 x 150 = 54,750.  This is not even counting the ones done in class.  Easily covering the 50,000 required.

I Ho Chaun, little changes that moves you closer to mastery not only in Kung fu but life.

What gives?

The NHL & NHLPA has struck a tentative agreement last night and I'm left wondering why all the fuss and how does this benefit. We have millionaires and billionaires arguing how to divide the hard earned money of  sports fans.

We have owners of professional sports teams looking for hand outs when they're a multi billion dollar corporation and we can't get fresh water to communities to prevent disease and death.

Athletes (professional sports) making ludicrous amounts of money when our doctors, teachers, first responders, etc aren't adequately paid for what they do for us as a society.

What gives? This is not in any way of being stewards of our world. Where is that breaking point where the masses realize we are killing ourselves?

Here is a good article, it's a little long but it will open you eyes and maybe give you a new insight into modern sports.

new year

What a busy couple of weeks its been with Christmas and New Years.  I'm looking forward to the rest that a planned and organised schedule brings.

What a way to start the year by squeezing in 1000 push ups and sit ups.  I really needed them, I've gained 5 pounds this Christmas season.

Now its time to get back on track and start training, hopefully I won't injure any more of my toes.   My kids thought it was disgusting when I removing my toenail and I would wiggle it back and forth and prentend it and I was having a conversaiontion. I thought it was funny :)
